Message from Ken Savage:
I have been in discussions regarding the new FEMA flood plan with G&W engineers (surveyors), which has the capacity to affect many of us. Their local number is 323-7100. Henry is the the individual I have been talking to.

Here is a link to the flood zone map that is supposed to show new flood zones (accuracy not guaranteed).

Ken Savage spoke with Allen Cumbie, our attorney, and he is planning on attending the May 15 meeting.
It has recently come to the attention of the Selkirk Community Association Board that FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) has changed the Flood Plain Maps. It is our understanding that in February 2013, an engineering firm presented a new map to FEMA and once again, a major part of Selkirk (possibly including Zipprian) is again in the Flood Zone. After a few lengthy conversations with a gentleman in the Denton, Texas office he has received “permission” from his boss to come down to speak to us and present the latest map. And to clarify the actual terminology—flood zone, flood plain, flood way, etc. and how it affects you as a property owner.
The only time Mr. Voice is available to come, in the near future, is next Wednesday, May 15th. The meeting is scheduled for 6 pm. at the Selkirk Fire Station. This may not be a convenient time for many, especially those who do not live at Selkirk, however, a timely meeting is essential to learn the time restraints and process should anyone wish to appeal this new mapping of our area.
If you are unable to attend and have a specific question you want addressed, please email Ken Savage or myself by noon on Wednesday. We will be happy to forward any information we learn at the meeting.
